Veteran local coach Melillo hired at PMA

Over the course of the last 30 years, North Andover's Bob Melillo has coached at nearly every imaginable level of basketball.

From being a head men's basketball coach at Fitchburg State, to coaching boys as the head man at tiny (St. Clement in Somerville) and large (Lowell) high schools, to coaching girls AAU teams for the Eastern Mass. Lightning/Warriors, he has indeed covered a wide spectrum.

Bill Tarbox's recent 58th birthday dinner involved more soccer talk than pizza consumption.

Among all the analysis and strategy, the group found time to take bites. But not many.

"My mom (Gail) and my wife (Ruth) have to put up with a lot," said Fred Tarbox, Bill's son. "All we talk about is soccer. It's constant."
