Peter Crapsey Jr., a third grader from Silver Hill Horace Mann Charter School in Haverhill won the national title in the 1,500 with a personal best time of 5:31.02 over the weekend in the AAU Indoor Nationals in Bloomington, Ill. He led from start to finish and won by 50 meters. The day before, he finished eighth in the 400 (1:17.98) and second in the 800 with a 2:45.02, which broke the previous meet record of 2:45.81.

Frank Santos netted 21 points, including converting five 3-pointers, made 11 steals, collected seven rebounds and had three assists to lead Notre Dame boys basketball 65-27 over Fellowship.

Catherine Muldoon served 10 straight pionts wtih five aces in th final set as Presentation of Mary held off Fellowship Christian is a 3-2 decision, in the first round of the Division 3 North tourey.  The Panthers move on to play No. 1 Lynnfield on Monday (7 p.m.).

Following his first career start in which he earned a shutout and added an assist, sophomore Merrimack College goaltender Sam Marotta was named the Hockey East Defensive Player of the Week.

Marotta made 25 saves in a 5-0 win over Connecticut Saturday. He notched his first collegiate assist after stopping a short-handed breakaway which resulted in a goal by Jeff Velleca. 

Angie Tran had eight service points, including seven aces. One of those aces was the 30th point in the final game which Fellowship Christian volleyball won 30-28 over PMA.

Trailing 14-11, Destiny Jordan served for the final five points to power Whittier to a marathon 25-23, 19-25, 25-15, 21-25, 16-14 win over Fellowship. Cassey Glode (30 digs) was the defensive star.

Freshman Delaney Kenny stepped up and served five straight points with two aces to break open a tight third game, giving Fellowship Christian momentum en route to a 3-1 win over Essex Aggie/North Shore.

 PMA got stellar work from Valerie Tellier, Catherine Muldoon and Samantha Fox in a 3-0 volleyball romp over Fellowship.

Senior forward Paul Thompson of Derry and junior defenseman Blake Kessel of the eighth-ranked University of New Hampshire men’s hockey team were named semifinalists for the 59th annual Walter Brown Award, presented annually to the best American-born college hockey player in New England. A two-time Hockey East Player of the Month (November and January) and three-time Hockey East Player of the Week, Thompson ranks second in the nation in goals (24), goals per game (.87) and points per game (1.57). In addition, Thompson leads the nation in power play goals with 11.

Fellowship Christian fell to South Shore 50-35, but itv was despite a fantastic game by Michael Moser. The 6-foot-6 senior had 20 points, 19 rebounds and 14 blocks.
