In the middle of a line change, Pinkerton's Teddy McCarran jumped off the bench onto the ice, intercepted a pass and broke away for the game-winning goal in overtime to give the Astros a 4-3 victory over Exeter. Freshman Zach Sanford added a hat trick for the winners. 

Despite a fantastic day in net from Pat O'Leary, two third-period goals did in Methuen and sent Lynn English to a 3-1 victory. Senior Pat Lucey's hustle up front helped keep the Rangers (1-2-2) in the hunt.

Central Catholic's Kyle Williams recorded his second shutout in as many starts this season, making 24 saves to blank Arlington Catholic 1-0. He also shut out Acton-Boxboro on Saturday.

Ernie Lupi's goal with 5:43 left in the game gave Haverhill its first win of the season, a 4-3 victory over Lowell Catholic. The Hillies, who got a pair of goals from Brad McGovern, outshot Lowell Catholic 52-14.

Steve Burgoyne was beyond sturdy in the Westford Academy net, turning aside 52 Central Catholic shots in a 5-3 victory. Nick Leonard had a goal and an assist for the Raiders in their season opener.

Tewksbury's fierce offense did in Methuen, 8-1. Pat Lucey was a strong, physical winger for the Rangers while Colin Traynor played well defensively in defeat.

Cody Marquis scored twice including a power-play marker to kick off Londonderry's season in style, winning 3-1 over Hanover. Freshman John Gomes also added a power-play score for the Lancers.

Strong defense in front of netminder Kyle Berthiaume (20 saves) kept quality Coyle Cassidy scoring chances to a minimum and earned Andover a 3-1 opening-night victory. New additions in sophomore C.J. Boilard, freshman David Belluche and junior Nick Nawrocki joined Joe Kuta, a four-year varsity member, for a strong defensive presence for the Golden Warriors.

Jack Hyman's second period score was the only dent in goalie Ben Harrow's armor as North Andover handed North Reading its second straight one-goal loss, 1-0. Harrow was brilliant with 31 saves, getting big backline help from freshman Nick Pascucci and senior Ricky Schaffer. The Scarlet Knights got strong efforts from sophomore Dan O'Connor and 8th grader Tyler Sifferlen in front of netminder Tyler Morandi (13 saves).

Trevor Braun registered his first career hat trick as Phillips easily defeated Worcester Academy, 8-0. Freshman Eddie Ellis added a pair of goals for the Big Blue.
