Methuen's softball team, which struggled last week, whipped a strong Chelmsford club 15-0 in six innings on Senior Night to improve to 13-5 entering the Methuen Tournament this weekend. Athletic director Peter Paladino believes that most Central teams will resume play today. The softball team will need to make up yesterday’s game with Tewksbury and today’s scheduled game with Arlington Catholic by Monday.

Hart threw a five-hitter, striking out nine, in picking up her 52nd career win as Brooks finished the season with a fine 14-3 record.

Freshman pitcher Amanda Butterfield scattered seven hits and only walked two and the Owls (1-13) played errorless balls. Armstrong's biggest hit came in the second inning when she smacked a two-RBI single to stake the Rangers to a 3-1 lead. Sarra Bergeron gave up just one earned run while fanning eight to improve to 11-4.
