Londonderry takes sixth place

Emily Buttafuoco placed fourth in the 50 freestyle (26.10) and fifth in the 100 freestyle (55.92) to lead Londonderry to a sixth-place finish at the New Hampshire Division 1 girls state swim meet. The Lancers were the top local team finisher, scoring 117. Pinkerton came in seventh with 89 points. Timberlane finished 11th (42 points) and Salem came in 15th (1 point). Hannah Terry swam well for Pinkerton, earning a third-place finish in the 200 IM (2:17.52) and fourth in the 100 butterfly (1:02.25).

Methuen boys place third

Methuen placed third in the five-team boys fall swimming and diving North sectional with 106 points. Billerica was the winner at 165.

Leading the Rangers was Patrick Doyle, who was second in the 200 freestyle and swam on the 200 medley relay that was second and 200 freestyle relay that was third.

North Andover takes second

 

Led by Lauren D'Entremont, North Andover finished second in the Division 2 girls meet, which was won by Lowell. D'Entremont won the 50 freestyle and 100 butterfly and was on the winning 200 medley relay. Also on that winning relay was 100 backstroke winner Sydney Seo.

Andover dumps Lions

Andover won just five events but its depth carried the day in a 98-88 win over Chelmsford for the MVC Large title. Rachel Landry and Alison Murtagh were double winners and the Golden Warriors were inspired by a key second by Sophia Allen in the diving. Coach Marilyn Fitzgerald said AHS knew the Lions really wanted this one when they made the unusual move of wearing their "championship suits."

Methuen clinches share of title

Jenna Albrecht won the 200 IM in 2:23.71 and 500 freestyle in 5:42.50 to lead Methuen over Lowell. 

With the victory, the Rangers clinched a share of the MVC Division 2 title with Lowell and Billerica.
