DeLano takes four

Carter DeLano won the 200 IM (2:19.33) and 100 butterfly (1:05.27) and swam on the winning 200 medley and 400 freestyle relays as Methuen/Tewksbury stayed undefeated (7-0) by beating Billerica 102-73. Jonathan Phan won the 100 freestyle and swam on the same two winning relays.

Amelia Barron was first in the breaststroke and was on two winning relays and Andover used its depth to swim past North Andover, 105-79.

Carter DeLano won two individual events and was on two winning relays for Methuen as the Rangers stayed unbeaten (6-0) with a 97-87 victory over Haverhill.

Carter DeLano won four events and Julia Galuska, Katie Lefebvre and Rebecca MacLeod shined in the relays as Methuen-Tewksbury (4-0) swam past Central Catholic, 97-73.

Methuen stuns Andover

Methuen-Tewksbury swimming stunned perennial state champion Andover 96-90. Carter DeLano won the 100 breaststroke in a tight race (0.40 second margin) and soon after M-T clinched it with a second and a third in the final relay. Other big Ranger wins were by Lex Flores in the diving and Cory Boisselle in the 100 freestyle. But it was the team depth which was the difference. This very well may be the first time a Methuen team has beaten Andover swimming. Nineteenth year head coach Jason Smith said his teams had never beaten Andover. This was on the heels of a huge win over Chelmsford.

North Andover won all but one event but Central Catholic had the depth to pull out an 88.5-81.5 swimming victory. Alexandra George was a double winner for the Raiders. Michigan recruit Malia Amuan won four events for NAHS.

Historic win

Methuen-Tewksbury swimming toppled perennial power Chelmsford in the opener, 100-86. Nineteenth-year head coach Jason Smith said he'd never beaten the Lions and it could very well be a first in program history. Two individual wins apiece by Johnathan Tran and Carter DeLano led the way.

Methuen/Tewksbury captures its third straight girls MVC Division 2 swim meet championship, along with three straight  regular season titles.  The boys also won the league meet title.
