Senior tri-captain Kyle Harris finished up 13-0 in dual matches at No. 3 singles. He posted the lone win for North Reading, which fell to Weston 4-1, in the Division 3 North finals. It was quite a year for the Hornets, though. This was their first ever appearance in the North finals.

North Reading's tennis team advanced to the Division 3 finals with a 4-1 victory over Triton. Senior Mike Pappas avenged a regular season loss at second doubles and the second doubles team of Chris Chee and Kevin Dorosh prevailed with a vital 6-3, 6-3 victory.

Warriors tough in semis

Second-seeded Andover didn't easily surrender its boys tennis season, dropping a tough 3-2 decision to third-seeded Acton-Boxboro in a grueling 4-hours of tennis.

Varun Penamatsa (7-5, 6-4) and Drew Rooks (6-3, 6-1) each won their matches in straight sets at No. 2 and 3 singles, respectively. No. 1 Andrew Imrie, who held the lead in both the second and third sets, dropped a heartbreaker in a 0-6, 7-6 (11-9), 6-4 marathon.

Lawrence ended one of its most successful boys tennis seasons ever, bowing out to Lincoln-Sudbury 5-0 in the Division 1 quarterfinals. Chen Chen lost a three-set heartbreaker at first singles for the Lancers (10-8).

Hornets in semis

 

North Reading's boys tennis team advanced to the Division 3 North semifinals for the first time in program history with a 5-0 shutout of St. Mary's. Kyle Harris remained unbeaten at third singles (11-0) andthe first doubles team of Justin Zhang and Chris Leighton won in three sets. The Hornets were last in the North semis in 1996, when they were Division 2.
