"This was an exciting meet that came down to the last event," said Sachems coach Steve Derro. Senior Deirdre Martyn, who played basketball until this year, won the 1,000 meters in a fine 3:15.3 and junior Jenna Smolag, a gymnast the previous two years, won the 55 meters in 7.6 to lead North Andover past Chelmsford. Danielle Voke ran a PR 12:16.2 to win the 2-mile.

Warrior honored

 

Merrimack College freshman Justin Hussar was named the Hockey East Pro Ambitions Co-Rookie of the Week  after netting his first career multi-point game, getting a goal and assist in a 4-2 win over Army. Hussar leads Merrimack freshmen with six points this season. Merrimack is idle until December 29-30 when it takes on Princeton and Union in the Sheraton/TD Bank Catamount Cup at the University of Vermont.
