Greater Lawrence Tech's Yosvaldy Tejeda ran away with the State Vocational title. The junior standout completed the 3.1-mile Wrentham Developmental Center course in 16:37 to win by 23 seconds.
"That's a nice time," said Reggies coach Jay Santomassino. "If he runs that Saturday (at EMass. Division 3 meet), he should qualify for All-States. And he should run faster against that competition.
"That's a legitimate time today. He's healthy and running great. He was out in front all alone. This is the high point of his career. Qualifying for All-States would be an even higher goal. Nobody for us through at least 1996, or even come close."
The Reggies also got "a great effort" from Dylan Colon, a first-year runner who placed ninth in 17:48. Miguel Cumba placed 11th. The Reggies placed second overall among 23 teams. League rival Greater Lowell won the title.
