Methuen's volleyball team had unbeaten and No. 1-seed Peabody on the ropes in the Division 1 North quarterfinals, leading 2-1 in games with a 7-1 lead in Game 4, but the Tanners had two big service runs and held on for a 3-2 win.
Alicia Miller had another big night for the Rangers (14-8) with 13 kills, 4 blocks and 19 service points.
"We played well, but just couldn't put them away when we had the chance," said Methuen coach Matt Twomey.
