North Andover advances to its 3rd North final

Behind Catherine Flaherty's 14 kills and five aces, fourth-seeded North Andover earned a 3-0 sweep of eighth-seeded Billerica in the semifinals of the Division 1 North volleyball tournament. 

Cathy Zhang added eight kills and seven aces for the Scarlet Knights while Rachel Karpinski chipped in 17 assists and Jillian Boyle had 14 digs.

This is the third time North Andover has reached the North final in its 17-year program history. The Scarlet Knights also advanced there in 2005 (losing to Melrose) and 2012 (losing to Andover).

North Andover will meet MVC rival Andover in the championship at 4 p.m. Sunday at Tewksbury Memorial High.
