Gonya captures MOC

Pinkerton junior Nicole Gonya used her skill and her smarts to place first in the Giant Slalom at the Meet of Champions ski competition at Cannon Mountain Tuesday.

Gonya, coming off a second place performance at the state meet, set her edges in and raced to a first-place finish in the first run. With a one second lead from the first run, she skied tactfully in the second run and held on to the win.

Emma Bennett had two solid runs and finished in 21st while freshmen Danielle Martineau and Hannah Peterson finished 26th and 31st.
