SALEM — Salem had played fine the last three weeks without Josh Sibanda but the unbeaten Blue Devils are still overjoyed to have him back.

The returning Eagle-Tribune offensive MVP, who was nursing a knee injury, scored four touchdowns and Salem sped to a massive 43-7 halftime lead en route to a 43-21 win over Merrimack.

Blue Devils coach Rob Pike said, "It's real nice to have him back. It's like he didn't miss a beat. He had some long runs (69 yards and 62 yards for scores) and some tough runs. He's a great player. He practiced all week. We made the decision Thursday."

Sibanda had 155 yards on just seven carries and the Tomahawks had no answers for Adam Maroun (7-67, 2 TDs) either. Matt Soldano was 5 for 5 passing and a TD pass to Sibanda.

The first defense didn't give up any scores. It was led by linemen Jared White, Brady Keenan (sack) and Jake Mullin (fumble recovery). Aidan Holland and Jake Emerson stifled the visitors' passing game.

Salem, 7-0, hosts Nashua North Friday and wraps up the regular season the following week against Londonderry.
