Pentucket won not only on its first Cape Ann League boys cross country meet title since 2003, but the Sachems did it convincingly Saturday.

The Sachems, who also won the JV meet, placed five runners in the top 11, led by rising sophomore Peter Lopata, who came in third in 16:13 on the 3.05-mile Bradley Palmer course, nine seconds and one place in front of teammate Nick Murphy.

Sophomores Sam Stys and David Gangemi were sixth and ninth respectively and freshman Colin Cosata came in 11th.

"It was a great day for us," said Pentucket coach Darrel Cox. "The kids ran great and we also won the Sportsmanship Award and took three of the top five places in the JV meet. I'm really proud of the boys."

Pentucket finished the regular season undefeated and will now gear for the Division 5 meet in two weeks.
