The Andover wrestling team made history when it captured the Londonderry Tournament in impressive fashion.

In the 10 years of the program, this was the first tournament championship for the Warriors and it was against some solid competition at that. Andover was first in the 15-team field with 150 points with traditional Maine powers Marshwood (139) and Sanford (137) in second and third.

"This is huge for us," said Andover coach Mike Bolduc. "We had some great performances all the way around. ... This should be a big boost for the program."

The Warriors had three champions in seniors Kevin Kiely (138) and Matt Meagher (160) and sophomore Kelvin Davilla (152). Kiely was tied in the finals, 13-13, when he pinned his man, Meagher won by major decision and Davilla recorded his fourth straight pin of the day.

Also for the Warriors, Ethan Coyle — in his first match since moving to 220 pounts — was second and  heavyweight Payton Heidtke was third.

"What was cool was that we had a lot of guys who won matches," said Bolduc. "The seniors (Kiely, Meagher and Heidke) led us but I'm excited by how the team wrestled."
