PLAISTOW — There was, once again, little drama Saturday at the Timberlane Invitational.

The Owls won their own tournament for the seventh straight year and 28th time in 30 years, and in resounding fashion, finishing with 264 points, far ahead of runner-up Southington, Conn. (161.5). Haverhill (114) was fourth and the Timberlane B team was 10th in the 19-team field.

But, if there was little drama, there were plenty of highlights for the Owls, who had six champions, three runners-up and gave signs that they may be a factor in the New England tournament in early March.

Leading the way for Timberlane, and perhaps a pleasant surprise this year was 106-pounder Nick Roeger, a junior in his first year as a full time starter. He placed first with two pins and a 7-0 decision in the finals to improve to 23-5 on the year.

"I'm stronger this year, more confident and I've been working hard," said Roeger.

Up next in the winner's circle for Timberlane was 120-pounder Barret Kappler, who had three pinsbefore taking a 7-0 decision in the finals followed two classes later by defending New ENgland champ Connor McGonagle, who had three first-period pins while improving to 28-1.

Also taking first was 145-pounder Dylan Musgrave, 152-pounder Justin Berube and 182-pounder Dylan Tremblay.

Musgrave won a tough 8-6 decision over rugged Nick Tejada in the finals, Berube dominated Southington's Tagan Welch, who was a Lowell Holiday Tournament finalist, and Tremblay had three straight pins while improving to 26-3. His first two pins were in the first 50 seconds.

"Justin's win was very impressive," said Chooljian. "I think he showed a lot today."

Finishing second for the Owls were Dylan Hughes (160), Brandon Berube (170), Mitchell Hammond (195) and improving sophomore Chris Lund (220). John Leavitt (113), Taylor Donovan (126) and freshman Nick Pallaria (132) were all third.

Nick Pallaria, caught in a tough weight class with McGonagle, is now 21-3 on the year.

Levy leads Haverhill

Haverhill sophomore Jay Levy seems to be getting better by the week. The Hillies' heavyweight had three first period pins to take top homors in his weight class and is now 23-6 for the season.

In addition to Tejada's second place, 220-pounder Ryan McCartney was third,
