The Triton golf team started the season in the win column Tuesday, beating Manchester Essex 133-113 at the Essex Country Club. Reigning Daily News MVP Cael Kohan led the way with 32 points, Nick Ritchie had 26 points and Rick Gardella had 24 points.

New school records

Jack Clohisy continued his great spring on the track, and was the highlight for a Pentucket boys team that came in fourth at Saturday's Cape Ann League Championship with 65 points. He won the 400 hurdles (56.77) and came in fourth in the long jump (19-10.50), but made his mark in the high hurdles where his second-place time of 14.64 broke his own school record of 14.92.

Solid day for Sachems at Henry Sheldon Classic

The Pentucket boys and girls track teams won a combined eight events at Saturday's Henry Sheldon Triton Classic, which combines both a program's boys and girls scores to find an overall winner. The Sachems finished third with 165 points, trailing Amesbury (250) and Triton (200).

Pentucket "Pitches for Pete"

Andrew Melone and Ethan Hunt combined to throw a one-hit shutout to lead Pentucket over Triton, 2-0, in the "Pitching for Pete" Frates Tournament. Gus Flaherty singled in Melone in the top of the first, then Kyle Stock gave the Sachems (10-4) some insurance when he singled home Jake Etter in the top of the seventh.

Pair of triple winnera

The North Andover boys track team had another good showing, cruises to wins over Triton and Essex Tech. The Knights had a pair of triple event winners with Tyler Glendon in the long jump (21-9), triple jump (40-4) and 4x100 relay (46.12), and Trevor Nassar in the pole vault (10-0), 100 meters (11.16) and 4x100 relay as well.
