Methuen cheerleaders are tops

When Kayla Getchell, Alexa Leclerc and Amanda George graduate from Methuen High School in June, they can forever say they were members of the best team in school history.

The girls are co-captains of the school's cheerleading team. Since they joined the squad in their freshman year, along with seniors Lauren Clark and Sean Bibeau, they've taken home seven of the eight state titles they could win in fall and winter cheerleading seasons. Cheerleading is both a fall and winter sport.

Gloucester cheerleaders win national title

Gloucester High School cheerleaders return to Gloucester High School Tuesday afternoon from Orlando, where they won the national cheerleading title over the weekend.3 Photos

When the Gloucester High School co-ed Cheerleading team left home for Orlando, Fla. and the Cheerleaders of America Ultimate Nationals, they left as a pretty accomplished team.

The Fishermen had already won the Northeastern Conference and finished second at the Massachusetts Regionals, as well as the State and New England Championships.

Andover cheerleaders spell S-U-C-C-E-S-S in pulling off a school first

Andover High's varsity cheerleading team deserves a cheer themselves. For the first time in school history, the team has qualified for national competition. Gloucester cheerleading team qualifies for Nationals

The Gloucester High School cheerleading team received some good news and some bad news this weekend.

The bad news was that they were edged out by Methuen and finished second in the co-ed division of the state competition on Sunday at Shrewsburry High School.

Gloucester cheerleading team set for state meet

Gloucester High School cheerleaders took turns doing backflips after each Gloucester score against Winthrop Friday evening at Newell Stadium. They did one backflip for each point in the game.1 Photo

The Gloucester cheerleading team is approaching dynasty status, and its members will have their chance to get to that point this weekend.

The Fishermen will be looking for their third straight state cheerleading title when they compete Sunday at Shrewsbury High School starting at 10 a.m.
