After two close setbacks, Pinkerton's girls won their first game of the season, 48-39 over Cambridge Rindge & Latin, led by the 15 points of Avah Ingalls.

CAMBRIDGE — Teyshon McGee led a fierce Haverhill defensive effort with three sacks, and the offense came alive with 21 points in the second half as the Hillies defeated Cambridge Rindge and Latin 27-7 on Friday night.

The Central Catholic boys lacrosse team cruised into the Division 1 North quarterfinals with a 17-2 win over Cambridge Rindge & Latin. Shane McInnis led the way with four goals, as nine different Raiders scored in the rout. Central will host Lexington on Friday (5 p.m.).

The No. 5 seed Greater Lawrence volleyball team lost to stout Cambridge Rindge & Latin, 3-0, in the first round of the Division 1 North tournament. The Reggies end their great season at 16-5 overall, while Cambridge (12-7) will be at Lawrence in the quarters on Monday.

LAWRENCE – With several Raiders ailing from the flu, Central Catholic caught a break when a snow storm that never materialized postponed its quarterfinal showdown with Cambridge Rindge & Latin a day.

Central Catholic beat Cambridge in the Bill Gibbons Memorial Tournament in Wachusett in a defensive battle, 36-27. Kaylee Thomas led Central (16-3) with 14 points. The Raiders face 19-0 Wachusett Monday at 5:45 in the tourney finals.

NORTH ANDOVER — It wasn't home, but it sure felt that way for the Lawrence High boys basketball team.

CAMBRIDGE — A few days after beating border-rival and conference-bully Central Catholic on the road, upstart Methuen went after an even bigger state power in Saturday night's Division 1 quarterfinals.

Haverhill took top honors in the Hillie Duals, winning four straight meets before taking the championship when Brookline oddly forfeited in the finals. Jake Nicolosi (138), Sam Prescott (152), Isaiah Delossantos (160) and heavyweight jay Levy were all 5-0 on the day.
