Surging forward

 

The Central Catholic softball team won its ninth straight game, 6-0 over Danvers, to improve to 18-2 and likely earn the No. 1 seed in the Division 1 North tournament. Pitcher Niamh Walker notched her second straight shutout and has only given up one run in the last four games while red-hot Bella Jankowski was 2 for 4 with a run scored and two RBIs.

North Reading freshman Sean Fagen made a big impression in his varsity debut, erupting for four goals and two assists to lead the Hornets to a 13-0 win over Danvers. Jack Schille also had three goals and Brian Cotter and Cam Fagen each had two.

Junior goalie Andrew Santos, in his first varsity start, had a shutout of a solid Danvers team as Andover grabbed a 2-0 victory in the first round of the Newburyport Bank Classic. Also, sophomore Michael Biddle scored his first career goal for the Warriors (10-3-5).
