Saved by Buzzell

Colin MacDonald scored the game-winner with 15 minutes left and Jesse Buzzell made a highlight-film save on a shot labeled for the lower left corner with about three minutes left. It all added up to a 2-1 Pentucket win over Newburyport in the ALS Cup.

Filling in fine

Backup goalie Chris Grimble made 12 saves but it was not enough as North Andover boys soccer lost 2-1 to Wilmington. Starting keeper Mike Moroney suffered a concussion in the game vs. Pentucket on Tuesday and will be out for at least two weeks, maybe more, coach Bill Tarbox said.

Josh Chevalier made 15 saves to help Andover to a 2-1 victory over Dracut.

"It was very windy so he had to come out a lot and anticipate the wind," Andover coach Jim Saalfrank said. "He came out aggresively and made plenty of saves."

Michael Moroney and Chris Grimble combined for the shutout as North Andover topped Pentucket in a battle of CAL opponents that each entered the game with one loss. Moroney made five saves and, after he left with a concussion, Grimble entered and made four stops to clinch the win.
