Eight Chelmsford runs in the middle innings created too much of a gap for Andover to overcome, eventually falling, 11-7. Freshman Molly Awiszus had two hits and four runs batted in from the ninth spot in the Golden Warrior lineup and seventh hitter Megan Pettoruto had three hits and an RBI.

Pelham's Kayla Bailey (4 for 5) slugged two home runs, one of which was a grand slam, but the Pythons gave up seven runs in the bottom of the seventh ina heartbreaking 18-17 loss.

Georgetown 13, Rockport 0

Georgetown sophomore Sarah Erlandson threw a sparkling one-hitter, striking out 14 in a 13-0 romp over Rockport. She also helped her own cause with a single, double and triple and four RBIs as the Royals (8-8) moved within one game of qualifying for the tournament with only a game against Ipswich Thursday left to play. Sarah Osborne added four hits and four RBIs.

Almost perfect -- again

Central Catholic sophomore Meg Donegan took a perfect game into the seventh inning for the second time this year, but had to settle for a two-hitter in a 5-0 win at Haverhill. Leadoff hitter Briana Martin was 2 for 2 and scored twice for the surging Raiders (12-4) and Carla Borrelli (3 for 3) remained hot and knocked in two runs.

Nora Galvin had a two-run homer in the first inning to fuel Salem's softball team to a 6-0 win at Exeter. Dominique Heres threw a two-hitter over six innings and freshman Nicole Gubellini struck out two of the three batters she faced.

Ranger power

Methuen's softball team blasted three solo home runs and added two truples in a nine-inng 9-6 win at Everett. Hitting the roundtrippers were Becca Armstrong, Becca Caterino and Bryanna Giorgio and Abbey Carbonneau (3 for 40 helped out by knocking home the tying run in the seventh and scoring the eventual game-winner in the ninth. Sophomore Carissa Cicolini got the win in her first varsity start.

Sanborn's softball team (12-1) avenged its only loss of the season with an impressive 7-2 win over Campbell. Eagle-Tribune All-Star Morgan Farmer (3 for 3) led the way with a single, RBI-double and three-run home run and winning pitcher Krissy Romano was 2 for 3 with an RBI while throwing a four-hitter.
