FOSTER, R.I. — In the New England boys meet, Pelham junior Cam Starr continued his rise by placing sixth in 15:50.93, just a half second from fifth. He was the top junior in the field and four of the five runners in front of him were seniors.

It was a big day for Pentucket at the Eastern Mass. cross country meets at Wrentham Saturday.

Cameron Starr continued his excellent season for Pelham, taking second overall in the Division 2 race, finishing in 16:17, to lead the Pythons to third place overall.

Lowell dominated the Merrimack Valley Conference boys meet as expected, taking the top four places and seven of the top 11, but North Andover’s Patrick Kitchen broke up the domination a bit, taking fifth overall with a 16:23 on Chelmsford’s 5K course.

It was expected to be close, and it was.

Junior Nick Murphy was in prime form for Pentucket Saturday afternoon, finishing third overall at the Cape Ann League meet at Bradley Palmer. He finished with a fine time of 15:52 on the 3.06-mile course.
