Freddy Coleman and Mitchell Crowe have been a devastating 1-2 punch for Methuen all season. But don't overlook Jason Dibble. He made it 1-2-3 for the Rangers Wednesday in a 22-33 win over North Andover. Luke McGillivray led the Knights with a fourth-place finish. Methuen wrapped up an impressive 6-1 season.

Doherty delivers

Methuen cross country beat Chelmsford, 25-31. It was the Rangers' first win over the Lions since 2014. Coach Kevin Alliette said it was "a breakthrough race for sophomore Liam Doherty," who placed seventh. The top Ranger was Freddy Coleman, who took second just behind Lions star Aidan Hennessey (15:26.3 to 15:26.9).

Windham 2nd in D2

 

Sanborn sophomore Jared Khalil and Windham's boys were the story Saturday at the Division 2 boys cross country meet at Derryfield Park.

Khalil finished third overall with a terrific time of 16:06 on the slick and challenging course, six seconds ahead of Windham rival Rohan Rai, who took fourth. But the Jaguars reached their goal of finishing second as a team behind national power Coe-Brown.

Methuen star Freddy Coleman got the big win against powerhouse Lowell, covering his 2.8-mile home course in 15:20.2. Teammate Mitchell Crowe placed fourth (16:04.4). Lowell won the meet in the rain 25-32.

Sanborn wins (?) it

 

Sanborn's boys cross country team won a five-team meet at home that included nationally ranked Coe-Brown, but it was with an asterisk because Coe-Brown ran its JV team. Jared Khalil was runner-up on the 5K course in 16:23, one place and seven seconds ahead of freshman brother Tyson.

The Windham boys cross country team grabbed its second big win in two weeks, running by Londonderry 25-30. Led by Rohan Rai, Windham went 2-3-5-7-8 for the win. Michael Killion had a superb race to finish third.
