Andover wins 11th straight North title

Behind a dominant performance by Emily Clements, Andover swimming made it 11 straight North titles Sunday night.

Clements won four goal medals, leading the Golden Warriors to the team title at the North Sectional Swim Meet at Boston University. A year after winning the North crown by just 11 points, Andover rolled to 463 points this fall, besting No. 2 Central Catholic (256 points).

Andover rolls to MVC Meet title

The head coach may be different, but the story was the same for the Andover High swim team on Sunday.

The Golden Warriors earned seven individual or relay victories, rolling to the Merrimack Valley Conference championship title at Worcester Polytechnic Institute.

Simard tops diving

 

Haverhill sophomore Cailey Simard scored an impressive 458.15 to romp to the 11-dive title at the MVC Dive Invitational. Improving teammate Sophia Lundgren was a distant second with a 371.80.

MVC champs

Methuen-Tewksbury swimming clinched its second straight MVC Division 2 title with a 99-79 victory over Lowell. Kyra Donahue led the Red Rangers, winning the 50 freestyle (26.44) and 100 freestyle (57.97) and swimming on the winning 200 freestyle and 400 freestyle relays. Callie DeLano won the 200 IM and 100 breaststroke and swam on the 200 medley and 400 freestyle relays.

Andover sinks A-B

 

Acton-Boxboro usually gives the Andover swim team a good test, but not this year as the Golden Warriors won all but one event in a 103-81 victory. Freshman Michaela Chokureva won the 50 freestyle and 100 butterfly and was on two winning relays to lead the way for the unbeaten Warriors (11-0).

Donahue

 

Senior captain Kyra Donahue won the 50 and 100 freestyle (59.27) and anchored two winning relays as Methuen/Tewksbury whipped Stoneham 97-68 to improve to 6-3 on the year. Another senior, Ava Facella, was also on two winning relays and placed first in the 200 IM and the 100 backstroke.

Good day for Donahue

Kyra Donahue celebrated senior day in style. The senior swimmer from Methuen was in on four event wins to lead the Methuen/Tewksbury swim team to a 101-77 win over Dracut. She won the 50 freestyle (26.50) and the 100 butterfly (1:06.32), and was also in on the winning 200 medley and 200 freestyle relay.

Kyra Donahue was in on three victories and Lex Flores led  a sweep of the diving as Methuen-Tewksbury swimming edged Billerica, 94-89.
