Wilmington continued its strong start with a 57-29 victory over North Reading at Ipswich. Matt Sexton had an impressive meet for the Hornets (1-2), winning the 50 hurdles (5.83 seconds) and finishing second in the high jump.

Amesbury 43, Lynnfield 43

 Amesbury got its first tie of the year against Lynnfield. Mike Dragonas (high hurdle), Kevin Johnston (40), Alex Tamburello (2-mile), Patrick Fuller (1000), Peter Siess (mile), Matt Kilmartin (shot put), and the mile relay team of Jeff Fortuna, Dragonas, Johnston, and Tamburello all had first place finishes for the Indians.

Kramer comes through

Alex Kramer paced the North Andover boys indoor track team in a 65-21 win over Wilmington. Kramer placed first in the mile with a time of 5:14.5 and he was also a member of the victorious 4x400 team along with Ricky Williams, Aaron Brunette and Eric Swahn. Swahn also took first in the 50 hurdles with a time of 8.2. Byung Cha (6.9) got the Scarlet Knights off to a strong start with a victory in the 50 yard dash.

Adams red hot

Methuen's Josh Adams won the 50-yard dash (5.6) and ran the lead leg of the Rangers' winning 4x400 relay during his team's victory over Central Catholic. Raider Armando Bucciarelli had a big day, clearing 6-2 in the high jump.

Salem finished second at an eight-team meet at the University of New Hampshire thanks largely to the efforts of sophomore Max Jacques and senior Mike Marshall. Merrimack was first with 78 points, 20 more than Salem.

The Clippers posted their first victory over Masconomet in school history. They trailed by three points with the high jump, mile and mile relay remaining before placing first and second in both individual events and first in the relay.

Marsan sets new PR in opener

Justin Marsan's career-best, state-qualifying throw of 50-6 3/4 in the shot put highlighted Methuen's 69-17 trouncing of Chelmsford in the opener for both teams. The only event the Rangers didn't place first place in was the 600. Josh Adams took first in the 50-yard dash (5.5) and tied for first with Dan Thoren in the high jump (5-8). Jared Reddy was tops in the 1,000 (2:32.01) and also ran the final leg of the winning 4x400 relay team.

On the heels of a big cross country season, Nick Schumacher opened the track season by winning the 2-mile in 10:09.3 and helping Andover down Lawrence 60-25. Scott Waller added a win in the mile (4:49.5) for the Warriors.

Kevin Johnston set a track record at Ipswich in the 40 with a time of 4.66 to take home Amesbury's only first place finish. Mike Dragonas (hurdles), Alex Tamburello (2-mile), Dan Sanderson (600), Peter Siess (mile), and Matt Kilmartin (shot put) all had second place finishes.
