Led by Jane Freund, who finished sixth overall, led North Andover's girls to second in the North Shore League Interscholastics. The Knights would have finished cloer to first place Masconomet but standout Sydney Schwalm fell while leading the slalom. She won the giant slalom in convincing fashion.

North Andover's Sydney Schwalm "came down to earth" after Wednesday's historic 5-second win but still finished first in her last regular season North Shore League meet to finish undefeated.

North Andover senior Sydney Schwalm had a race for the ages Wednesday when she placed first in the North Shore League slalom race with a 20.17. She not only stayed unbeaten but she beat the runner-up by more than five seconds. "In all my years of coaching, no one has won by that differential," said veteran coach Jerry Marchegiani, who has been at it for 48 years.

North Andover's Sydney Schwalm finished first in the North Shore League races for the second straight week and teammate Jane Freund was second as the Knights won twice to improve to 4-0.

In her first race for North Andover in two years, Sydney Schwalm showed that she didn't lose a thing. Schwalm, who was out with a torn ACL last year, finished first by a wide margin in the first girls North Shore League race of the season. Teammates Jane Freund and Mia Muse were 9th and 10th as the Knights defeated both Haverhill and Andover. 

Junior Jane Freund of North Andover had a big meet at the State Meet at Berkshire East Ski Area in Charlemont. Competing in a field of 146, Freund placed 13th in  the slalom, 26th in the giant slalom and 18th overall. She was the lone area skier to qualify. "She works very hard weekends at Mt. Wachusett to achieve a higher level of training," said Knights coach Jerry Marchegiani. "She definitely met my expectations."

North Andover's Jane Freund placed second overall (48.03) to lead the Scarlet Knights to a third-place finish as a team at the North Shore Ski League Championship.

North Andover's Jane Freund continued her strong season on the slopes, finishing first overall as the Knights won two meets to improve to 9-1 on the year.

North Andover's Jane Freund was the fastest down the hill on Wednesday, skiing to first in 30.08 to help the Knights win one of two matches on the day.

Jane Freund placed second overall and Mia Muse placed 12th North Andover went 2-0 in girls North Shore skiing action.
