BYFIELD | The Triton football team's fanbase can breathe easy this weekend.

The Vikings are on the board.

Triton tallied its first points of the season last night en route to a 28-24 victory over Ipswich at Triton Regional High. In the second quarter, the Vikings stopped their season-long scoreless streak at 135 minutes and went on to score 28 points in the next 16 minutes.

Tigers looking for first win

They can't take anything for granted with an 0-3 record, but the Ipswich Tigers feel they have a legitimate shot against 0-3 Triton on the road tonight (7 p.m. in Byfield). Triton has been respectable on defense, but has yet to score a point.

Cadogan's 4 TDs can't push Ipswich past North Andover

NORTH ANDOVER | The Ipswich High football team finally found some offense in its third game of the season.

Unfortunately, host North Andover had a little bit more.

Despite four touchdowns (3 rushing, 1 receiving) from Jimmy Cadogan, the Tigers fell for the third time in as many games, dropping a 40-27 decision to the Scarlet Knights at Walsh Stadium.

IPSWICH | One carry into last night's game, Nate Bunnell knew it was going to be a good night for himself and his Pentucket football teammates.

His first carry | a fullback trap on the game's third play | resulted in a 51-yard touchdown and set the tone for the entire night. Bunnell finished with a career-high four touchdowns, rushing for 138 yards on just five carries as the visiting Sachems cruised to their first victory of the season by crushing host Ipswich, 48-6.

Every team that plays them will also be going for the jugular.

It's human nature. Ipswich lost virtually everyone from an 11-2 team that won the Division 3A Super Bowl last season; 43 of the 55 players this year are either freshmen or sophomores.
