Salem's two varsity running backs Jerickson Fedrick and Max Jacques battled it out in the 55 meter dash with Fedrick winning in 6.39 seconds and Jacques coming in second (6.62). The two helped Pinkerton boys track take third place at the Division 1 state meet.
Pinkerton star football player Emmitt Smith, meanwhile, came in third place in 6.69.
Jacques also placed second in the long jump (20-1) and Smith came in fourth in the 300 (37.54).
Pinkerton's Kevin MacPherson placed in two events, coming in fourth in the 3,000 (9:10.70) and fifth in the 1,500 (4:20.20).
