With a 3-5 record, the Manchester Essex boys basketball team doesn't appear to be setting the world on fire. However, the Hornets have to like their position right now.
"Our schedule has a lot of winnable games in the second half of the season," said Hornets head coach Bill Cahill after Tuesday night's 81-66 loss to Ipswich.
Manchester Essex has been victimized by a tough early schedule, which included losses to Pope John, Georgetown and Newburyport. Now, the Hornets begin a stretch where they face many struggling teams, starting with tonight's matchup against 2-6 Pentucket.
With the explosive scoring and leadership of senior guards Marty Nally (16.6 ppg) and James Settipane (11.3 ppg), the Hornets can be penciled in for a Division 4 tourney spot.
