Behind Andrew Lechner's 17 kills and four blocks and Kyle Heidler's 36 assists, Pinkerton volleyball upset previously-undefeated powerhouse Salem with a 3-0 sweep.
"They passed extremely well and ran whatever they wanted to," Salem coach John Roemer said about the Astros. "We made a lot of mental mistakes."
Salem (13-1) entered yesterday having won 55 straight games and with an overall program record of 180-1, including 9 for 9 in state title games.
"Pinkerton played extremely well," Roemer said.
Cooper Williams had eight kills and Chris Komersarik added five kills for Pinkerton, which improved 12-2.
Jake Slepian recorded 35 assists and Darren Righini added 17 digs for Salem.
