Andover's swimming team had a relatively close meet against Chelmsford just a week ago, but the Warriors overwhelmed the Lions and the rest of the Merrimack Valley Conference Division 1 meet at Haverhill.

The Warriors finished with 818 points, with Chelmsford a distant second (588.5), Haverhill in third (374.5) and central Catholic in fourth (322).

Allison Murtagh and Rachel Landry led the way for the Warriors. Murtagh placed first in both the 200 and 500 freestyle while also joining the victorious 400 freestyle relay while Landry took first in the 200 IM and 100 freestyle and was on the 200 and 400 freestyle relays.

"To win by that margin, we just showed so much depth today," said coach Marilyn Fitzgerald. "Rachel Landry had an outstanding day, Alison Murtagh was very strong and Sophia Ju did a great job in the relays.

Michaela Sliney continued her outstanding season for Haverhill, overwhelming the diving field with a first-place 334.50 school and MVC record total while also winning the breaststroke and joining the winning 200 medley relay.

"Michaela had a great day and we're happy to finish ahead of Central," said Haverhill coach Rick Batistini.

For Central, freshman Alyvia Petrozza stood out. She was first in the 100 butterfly, second in the 200 IM and a member of the runner-up 400 freestyle relay.
