ANDOVER - Arriving 15 minutes before the scheduled kickoff did not help Madison Park get the fresh legs they needed to chase down the Reggies running backs.
Led once again by the speedy Ojany Belliard, Greater Lawrence blitzed Madison Park en route to a 44-12 beatdown.
Belliard rushed for 150 yards on the day and three scores; two rushing, one special teams. The junior averaged 12.5 yards per rush attempt, and was a nuisance for Madison Park defenders to tackle.
With his efforts today, Belliard surpassed 1,000 yards rushing on his season.
"O.J's great," said Greater Lawrence head coach Tony Sarkis on Belliard. "He's one of those guys that just plays. You see the quickness out there with that kid. He's just a special back."
Quarterback Kyle Vasconcellos started the scoring for the Reggies with a two-yard touchdown run on Greater Lawrences' first drive. After a defensive stop, Belliard weaved through Madison Park defenders to take the ensuing punt 60-yards to the house.
In the first quarter alone, the Reggies scored each an offensive, defensive, and special teams touchdown. Linebacker Edward Andrade capped off an explosive first frame with a 47-yard interception return that extended the Reggie lead to 20-0.
Belliard capped of a nine-play, 69-yard drive with a two-yard run to give the Reggies a comfortable 28-0 lead at halftime.
"I think most of the effort was playing mistake free football," said Sarkis. "My challange for them is to make no mistake for the rest of the games we play. Overall on offensive the guys came out to play, and defensively there were a couple plays that put [Madison Park] into scoring positions; so we have to elimate those."
The Reggies gave up a 72-yard catch and run as well as a 64-yard pitch for Madison Parks only touchdowns. Edgardo Garcia was in on 12 tackles defensively, as well as he forced a fumble.
Greater Lawrence will take on Brighton next Friday.
