North Andover's remarkable junior Erick Duffy soared 16-0.5 to win the Eastern Mass. Division 2 pole vault and set a new all-time state record in the process. The old mark was 16-0 by Brendan Sullivan of Westford Academy in 2012.
Duffy, The Eagle-Tribune MVP indoors, had a career best of 15-9.25 this winter and cleared 15-7 previously this spring.
Duffy wasn't done, though. He went on to win the 110 high hurdles in a 15.13 clocking.
Knights' teammate Matt Manteiga was third in the long jump, leaping 21-0.5.
Central Catholic battled Reading all day long, finishing second behind the Rockets, who had 68 to the Raiders, 59.
Jake Fogarty was second in the javelin at 173-4 for the Raiders, while Lucas Blythe sped to third in the 200 and helped the 4x100 team to a fourth place overall.
Central's Sarah Freeman took fourth in the mile and ran the lead leg in the Raider 4x800 relay team that took sixth overall, yesterday in the Division 2 Eastern Mass. track championships.
Kate Hasentstab had soared over the bar at 9-feet to claim the Division 2 girls pole vault victory earlier in the week.
For North Andover, Trinity Tapper was fourth in the 100 at 12.97.
