The Pentucket boys basketball team held a 10-point lead entering the fourth quarter, but the Sachems couldn't hold off a late comeback effort by Weston as the Sachems were upset 49-48 in the Division 3 North quarterfinals. Weston took the lead with about 1:30 to play after a series of Pentucket turnovers, and the Sachems couldn't make the last big play it needed to regain the lead down the stretch. Jake Etter led the Sachems with 14 points and Spencer Pacy had 13 as Pentucket finishes the season 19-3.

Despite 18 digs for Cassandra Ortega, No. 13 Whittier volleyball lost to No. 20 Weston 3-1 in the Division 2 North first round. 

Lismari Valdez had seven kills and seven aces to pace Haverhill volleyball to  a sweep of Weston to finish the regular season with a 15-5 record.

HAVERHILL — Whittier senior Demario Scarpegnato couldn't keep up his torrid scoring pace Tuesday night, but he continued to elevate the Wildcats.

After averaging 27 points in his previous three games, Scapegnato was held to 17 but his 15 rebounds and all-around intensity helped Whittier surge past Weston, 57-47, in the opening round of the Division 3 North tournament.

It was a fantastic season for Pentucket boys tennis, but the postseason run came to an end with a 3-2 loss to Weston in the Division 3 North finals Friday.

HAVERHILL — It was absolute pandemonium.

Whittier Tech managed only four hits, but sophomore Will Carpenter made it stand up, firing a two-hit shutout as the Wildcats stopped Weston, 1-0. Patrick O'Regan delivered the game-winner with an RBI single in the sixth.

 Whirttier Tech's boys erupted for 26 points in the fourth quarter to earn its fourth win of the year, surging past Weston 58-55. Richie Vazquez had six 3-pointers and a season-high 22 points for the Wildcats.
