Kraytenberg, Enright end thriller

With two outs in the bottom of the eighth, Rachel Kraytenberg singled and hustled home on a double by Kelsey Enright to give Londonderry a 1-0 walkoff victory in eight innings. Lancers pitcher Sam Corey worked her way out of a jam in the top of the eighth. With a runner at third, she forced one batter to pop out, and struck out the other, her 10th K of the day.

No-no Nicole

Quinnipiac-bound Nicole Gubellini did it all in Salem's 14-0, six-inning shellacking of Spaulding. Gubellini tossed a no-hitter, walking two and striking out seven, had three hits and drove in a run, and snagged a hot line drive up the middle in the third inning that was the biggest threat to her no-no. The Blue Devils got four hits from first-year varsity players Emily O'Brien and Brianna Rastello in the cleanup spot in the win.

Bombs away

Behind home runs from leadoff hitter Joe Lemenager and Mitch Dufton, Salem shelled Spaulding in the opener for both teams, 12-6. Lemanager had the big hit in the Blue Devils' eight-run fourth inning, mashing a grand slam. Dufton's two-run four-bagger came in the sixth to go along with an earlier double.

Cam Toohey took a cross-ice pass from Nolan Dow, made a nice move and scored with eight seconds left to lift Timberlane to a "must-win" 4-3 victory over Spaulding. Brendan Viens scored his first varsity goal and the Owls receied a two-goal performance from Brandan Hienze.

Aliza Simpson scored in 16 points, including netting four 3-pointers, to lead the Lancers to a 70-26 victory.

MacDougall does it all

Becky MacDougall scored 12 points, collected 12 rebounds and made six steals to lead Timberlane girls basketball to a 52-31 victory over Spaulding.

"She's been working very hard at her game and has improved a lot," Timberlane coach Bruce Johnson said. "She's a swing player who plays both forward and guard for us. She's been doing a lot for us."
