Knights go 1-1-1

North Andover went 1-1-1 at the Division 2 duals. The Knights knocked off Mansfield, 51-24, but fell to Plymouth South, 54-21. They finished up with a 37-37 tie vs. Tyngsborough/Dracut. Kaleb Rhoton led the way for the Knights, going 3-0 with 3 pins.

Pelham junior Conor Maslanek is picking up where he left off last year, cruising to first at 195 pounds at the Tyngsboro Tournament Saturday. Also for the Pythons, who finished eighth, Nick Carroll was the runner-up at 182 and Evan Haskins was third at 160.

Despite moving up three weight classes, Pelham sophomore Conor Maslanek is doing just fine, thank you. In fact, he took first place Saturday at the Tyngsboro Tournament to pace the Pythons to fifth place overall. Heavyweight Tony Zolt was second for Pelham.

Crowinshield clinches it

After a tough tiebreaker loss in Methuen's first match of the year against Chelmsford, freshman Chris Crowninshield delivered a 6-2, 7-6 (7-4) tiebreak victory to not only earn his first varsity win, but to help the Rangers beat Tyngsborough 3-2 and remain undefeated.

After following behind by two runs in the first inning, Methuen responded with 10 runs total (five in the fifth) to earn a 10-3 season-opening win over Tyngsborough. First-year starting catcher Heather Wood had a two-run single in the fifth that broke open the game.
