Sanborn wins in 5 overtimes

You know a game was a marathon when everyone is guessing what happened in which overtime.
Last night’s Sanborn hero Cam Weymouth “thinks” it was the final seconds of the third OT when he hit a 23-foot bomb to force the fourth OT.
The Indians willed their way to a 5-OT, 73-69 thriller over Farmington Tuesday night in Kingston.
It was a wild sequence with Sanborn getting four offensive rebounds in the final 30 seconds and finally making the three on the fifth try.
It was Weymouth’s first shot of the night!
“Logan Kalinowski passed it to me and I just took the shot with two seconds left,” said the 5-10 senior point guard from Fremont. “The funny thing was, the game before I had a shot to win the game in the final seconds (and missed). It was good to get some redemption.”
Even though he had come up short in the opener, and hadn’t even attempted a shot last night, Weymouth wasn’t lacking for confidence.
“I knew I could make it. I’ve taken them all my life,” said Weymouth, who transferred from Central Catholic after his sophomore year.
“I’ve never seen a game like this,” said 10th-year Sanborn coach Bob Ficker. “Cam hit one shot all night, if that doesn’t tell it all. This was a crazy game.”
Ficker said the visitors hit a last-second corner 3-pointer to tie it “in one of the overtimes.”
In the final OT, the Indians took a two-point lead then held the ball. Kalinowski (14 points) was fouled and hit both free throws to ice it.
James Consentino was a man among boys with 29 points and 14 rebounds and James Shoopman backed him with 20 points for the winners.
