A poor decision

With the lead run at third base and two outs in the bottom of the sixth inning, Manchester Essex decided to intentionally walk Ryan Browner to pitch to Mark Berkland. The Georgetown catcher made the Hornets pay, slapping a single to right center field that plated Dave Ingraham, and Dave Slack finished a fine mound effort to garner the 1-0 victory.

The North Reading boys and girls pole vault teams both won at the Mass Division 4 coach's relays. 

The North Reading girls jumped a combined 22 feet. (Jessie Valenti 9-0, Cole Godzinski 7-0 and Nikki Kowalski 6-0).

Isaiah Nelsen smashed his career high with 29 points to lead North Andover past Manchester-Essex 76-68. The big man was 4 of 5 on 3-pointers. Colby Smith had two late lay-ups after Manchester made it interesting. Derek Collins came off the bench for his first significant minutes of the season.
