Knights rally to win CAL Meet

ROXBURY — North Andover, which went unbeaten in the regular season, rallied to win the Cape Ann League Meet by placing second in the final event, the 4x400 relay.

Trailing Hamilton-Wenham by 4.5 points, Eleni Coufos, Carrie Manteiga, Danielle Coskren and Mikayla Guthrie combined for a 4:23.78 clocking and vaulted the Knights to the championship.

Sachems hold off Masco

After falling behind by five points on a clutch Chelsea Nason 3-pointer and two Danielle Davis free throws with 2:13 left, Pentucket scored 10 of the game's next 12 points to pull out a 57-54 win over Masconomet. Alex Moore (13 points) hit a driving layup and a huge 3 to give the Sachems the lead, and Coley Viselli (16 points) sank three free throws down the stretch to preserve the victory.

Unforgettable first

Freshman Travis Motsis scored his first varsity goal, which proved to be the game-winning in Whittier-Amesbury's 3-2 win over Pentucket-Georgetown. Freshman Tabor Smith assisted on the goal along with junior Tucker Holt, who earned his first varsity point with that helper. Junior Evan King (18 saves) withstood a late Pentucket enslaught to secure the win.

Pentucket qualifies two relays for states

Pentucket's Molly Smith, Rachel Perry, Ali Attenasio and Chase Marcotte placed fifth in the shuttle hurdles with a time of 32.88 at the Division 3 relays at the Reggie Lewis Center. Pentucket's Liz Beauregard, Brianna Repke, Emma Marchant and Kelsey Pratt qualified for states in the 4x800 with a 10:30.83. Marisa Lundy, Colleen Kilian, Tori Spofford and Charlotte Merritt qualified for states in the 4x200 with a 1:55.47.
