Haverhill fell to Shawsheen 9-5 in the Haverhill Christmas Tournament. Freshman Tom Maguire scored a goal and an assist for two points. Haverhill goalie Zack Grundy saved 34 of 43 shots for a .791 save percentage.

Salem tops Windham/Pelham

In what could develop into an interesting rivalry, Salem exploded for three goals in the third period to beat the Windham/Pelham, 5-3, at the Salem Holiday Tourney last night.

Taking on perennial Division 1 power Pinkerton yesterday in the Salem Holiday Tourney, Division 2 Timberlane used a second-period scoring blitz and balanced play for an impressive 5-1 victory.

Two firsts for Linnane

Freshman goalie Keith Linnane earned his first career shutout and his first varsity victory, helping North Reading defeat Boston Latin Academy, 2-0, in the opener of the Roy Condon Tourney. Kyle Shiner and Erik Morrison provided superb defense in front of Linnane and Eric Sokolski's two goals gave the Hornets all the offense they needed.
