Read More »On average, 18 million youths each year will suffer some sort of injury related to athletics. Of those, roughly 3.5 million will be sustained by kids under the age of 15 years old.
That was the topic of discussion at a lecture on kids and sports injuries held at Merrimack College. The was sponsored by Eagle Tribune Publishing's RallyNorth.net, as well as Merrimack College and the Northeast Rehab Health Network.
Read More »1.St. John's Prep (12-5-3): Seven straight wins to close out the regular season locked up not only a Super 8 berth for the Eagles, but potentially a No. 2 or 3 seed (thus, they avoid a potential showdown with Catholic Memorial until at least the semifinals). Will be almost two weeks between their last regular season game and first postseason contest, however.

A.J. Parker, Peabody: Junior left wing led Tanners to its seventh straight Carlin Cup championship on Monday afternoon, scoring a hat trick in an 8-1 blitzing of Bishop Fenwick.

Read More »1.St. John's Prep (8-5-3): With a Super 8 tournament berth within their sights, the Prep beat a pair of previously once-beaten teams this past week on the road, tipping Catholic Conference foe Malden Catholic, 2-1, before hammering Greater Boston League front-runner Waltham, 7-2. Playing their best hockey of the season right now.

Stan Goodwin, Salem: A backup goalie for the Witches, the sophomore came in late in second period and shut out the Lynn Jets for the game's final 19 minutes, earning the victory in his team's 2-1 upset win.
Read More »1.Gloucester (10-1-2): Fishermen responded to their first loss of the season with an impressive win over Danvers, but followed that up with a lackluster tie in Winthrop. The return of star forward Josh Salah from injury this weekend will help buoy the team's spirits.

Danny Haugh, St. John's Prep: Senior winger assisted on a pair of first period goals to help the Eagles completed a two-game series sweep of the defending Super 8 champions from B.C. High Saturday with a 3-2 win.
