Birch comes through for Hillies

Casey Birch delivered a two-run RBI single to highlight Haverhill's three-run fourth and pace the Hillies' to a 5-4 win at Notre Dame. Maggie Santomassino eaned the win for the Hillies (2-16) with a complete-game, two-strikeout performance and saved her best for the final act when she struck out Notre Dame's number four batter with the bases loaded.

Cassey Glode blasted a pair of three-run homers, legging both out at the park which does not have a fence, leading Whittier to a 15-0 win over Haverhill in five innings.

Super Sicard

 

Led by senior veteran Kelly Sicard, Lawrence scored 11 runs in the sixth inning to overcome a 4-2 deficit in a 13-4 victory over Haverhill. Sicard had three hits and five RBIs, including two hits and three RBIs in the sixth.

Mighty Mulligan

 

For the second straight year, Molly Mulligan pitched a gem for Methuen at Haverhill. Yesterday, in an 8-0 victory, she scattered five singles while striking out 11 and allowing just two walks.She also helped her own cause with two hits and an RBI.

Daughter dazzles dad's team!

With Haverhill trailing Greater Lawrence 6-5, the Hillies' Maggie Santomassino came in in the fourth with the bases loaded and two outs and got the strikeout to end the threat. The sophomore then struck out eight of the next nine batters. And her father? He's the Reggies' coach Jay Santomassino! The Hillies put it away with eight runs in the fifth behind two-RBI hits by Kayla Pellot and Taylor Scalese.

Hagigeorges, Andover enter win column

ANDOVER — Dina Hagigeorges' two-run single helped spark Andover softball to its first victory of the season, a 5-1 win over Haverhill yesterday afternoon.

"We are getting our hits at the right time," said Golden Warriors (1-1) coach Steve Tisbert. "We have managed some timely hitting and playing very well on the defensive end."
