WINCHESTER — For the third time in five years, Winchester ousted Pentucket in a state tourney battle of the Sachems. Yesterday, two early goals allowed doomed Pentucket, which fought hard to the bitter end of a 3-0 defeat in the Division 2 North opener.

Shannon Beaton scored twice and assisted on another as Pentucket earned a 3-0 win over Triton.  Beaton's efforts helped secure the 100th career win for her mother, Ruth.

Liz Beauregard fired a perfect crossing pass to Carley Desjardins, who scored midway through the first and only half to give Pentucket a 1-0 win over Masconomet. The game was called at halftime due to rain.

Mary Kate Corrado and Molly McDonough anchored a stingy defense for the Pentucket field hockey team, which blanked Manchester Essex 1-0.

 Shannon Beaton scored all three goals, giving her 10 for the season, as Pentucket clipped Ipswich 3-1. The senior standout has already tied her output from last year.

Caroline Whalen dominated the midfield and Kali Otis contributed a goal and an assist as North Andover field hockey blanked Pentucket 2-0.

Olivia Duggan scored 52 seconds into the game and Shannon Beaton scored 16 seconds later as Pentucket field hockey whipped Tierton. 5-0. Center-midfielder Molly Sanford also had a big game.
