Methuen's boys tennis team, exhausted from the senior prom the night before, edged Haverhill, which was playing its second meet of the day after shutting out Billerica, 3-2. Freshman Luis Martinez, one played who skipped the prom, had a key win for the Rangers (9-5) at third singles.

Freshman Luis Martinez improved to 7-2 with a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 3 singles as Methuen blanked Lawrence 5-0.

Winning all five of its matches against Lowell by a combined 60-11, Methuen qualifed for its third consecutive state tennis tournament.

Andover's Varun Penamatsa battled Methuen's Joe Perrone to a 7-5, 3-6, 7-5 victory at No. 1 singles as the Golden Warriors bested the Rangers 5-0.

With the match on the line, freshman Luis Martinez looked like a seasoned veteran in just his fourth varsity match, scoring a 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 3 singles to give Methuen a 3-2 victory over Central Catholic.

Methuen freshman Louis Martinez makes it 2 for 2 as a varsity player for the Rangers, picking up his second career win (6-0. 6-2) after winning his first varsity match on Tuesday against Andover. Methuen beat Lowell yesterday, 5-0.

With Andrej Samardzic winning a tough three-set battle and the doubles team of Sameer Sangal and Sicco Huizing prevailing in two challenging sets, Andover took a deceptive 4-1 win over Methuen. In his first varsity match, freshman Luis Martinez took home Methuen's lone point with a three-set victory.

Joe Perrone won a tiebreaker, 7-5 decision at first singles to key Methuen over Haverhill 3-2 in boys tennis. 

Central Catholic's Nick Saltman outlasted Methuen's Andrew Nguyen 1-6, 7-5, 7-6 (7-5) at No. 2 singles to clinch the Raiders' 3-2 victory over tha Rangers. Chris Bunker added a win at No. 1 singles for the Raiders.
