Lowell beats Hillies, earns piece of MVC title

A physical, all-senior front line allowed Lowell to shake off five turnovers and 115 yards in penalties to defeat Haverhill, 36-23 on Thanksgiving Day and earn a portion of the MVC Large title with Andover and Central Catholic.

It was the Chance Brady show once again as the talented senior running back rushed for 257 yards on 25 carries and scored five TDs as Haverhill topped Methuen 41-20.

Colin Langford caught two TD passes for Methuen.

Billerica holds off Haverhill 35-33

Billerica scored on a beautiful 9-yard post pattern from QB Jordan Bolarinho to Matt Clifford in the third quarter, recovered an onside kick, then ran the exact same play for an 18-yard TD, taking a lead it would not lose in defeating Haverhill, 35-33.

Haverhill rolls

Bouncing back from a tough conference loss to Tewksbury, Haverhill took its frustrations out on winless Peabody with a 41-14 victory. Tommy Morgan was a very efficient 9-for-11 passing for 152 yards and three scores while Chance Brady ran for a couple more.

Tewksbury denies Haverhill

Looking to open a season with a second straight win for the first time since 2006, Haverhill surrendered the game-winning touchdown with 99 seconds remaining.

Chance Brady, who finished with 125 yards on 20 carries, scored his second touchdown late in the third quarter as Haverhill tied the score at 22. But Tewksbury took advantage of a Hillie turnover that led to a 24-yard game-winning scoring drive.
