HAVERHILL – What a difference 53 days – and a bunch of victories – make.

Methuen's Cooper Hammel drilled six 3-pointers in a 76-70 loss to Everett.

Chris Bardwell and Isaiah Nelson scored 30 and 29 points respectively as North Andover whipped Methuen, 80-71.

Nick Cambio notched a season-high 28 points to lead Central Catholic past Methuen 87-73. That crushed his previous best game of the year, 19 points in a win over Dracut.

Methuen quickly seized the lead against Lawrence, fought off several second-half runs and survived for a 76-68 victory.

It was the first time since Jan. 2, 2007 that the Rangers defeated the Lancers, breaking a run of eight straight losses. After opening with five straight wins, Lawrence has now lost four of its last five games.

METHUEN – The Haverhill boys were obviously just waiting for a new year to turn around their season.

Tyler Verrette led an Andover defense that allowed just three combined points in the second and third quarter combined and Jack Konevich knocked down four 3-pointers on the way to 12 points as the Golden Warrios downed Methuen 65-36.

Sophomore Tim Galloway-Burke exploded for 15 of his game-high 29 points in the fourth quarter, breaking open a tight contest and sending Methuen to a 81-71 victory over Dracut. Cooper Hammel was 10 for 10 from the free throw line as part of a 21-point night for the Rangers.

Sophomores Cooper Hammel (26) and Tim Galloway-Burke (22) combined for 48 points and Methuen downed Greater Lawrence 64-52 in a Greater Lawrence Christmas Tourney consolation game.

The lead was 30 when Galloway-Burke, an impressive 6-5 center destined for big things, scored early in the fourth. The Reggies pumped in 25 points in the fourth to cut it to 12. Oscar Reynoso (15) and Javier Franjul hit double figures for Greater Lawrence. 

Lawrence pulled away in the fourth quarter to beat Methuen, 69-58, in the opening round of the Greater Lawrence Christmas Tourney. Roberto Speing had 16 points and Tre'Von Farley 14 for the winners. Tim Galloway-Burke had 14 for the Rangers.
