For the second straight year, the Greater Lawrence boys basketball team qualified for the state tournament in its last game, blasting Lynn Tech 54-24. Oscar Reynoso led the Reggies (10-10) with four 3-pointers and 22 points.

Huge win for Reggies

At 8-9, Greater Lawrence Tech faced a pretty much win-or-wither matchup at Greater Lowell, and the Reggies delivered, pinning a 52-49 decision on the Gryphons.
Greater Lawrence now needs a win, either against Lynn Tech or Methuen, to qualify for the upcoming state tourney.
Cristian Rivera, who tossed in 10 points, anchored the Reggie defense late, while Frankely Estrella added 12 points. 
"It was big for both teams," said Reggies coach Dan Habib. "We needed it desperately."

Reynoso ices win

Oscar Reynoso knocked down a pair of free throws with seven seconds left on the lock to put Greater Lawrence up by four points, making a last-second 3-pointer meaningless as the Reggies held on to beat Shawsheen 57-56.

Justin Reyes netted 20 points and added 16 rebounds to lead Whittier boys basketball 61-45 over Greater Lawrence.

Ryan Grant also had a double-double, scoring 10 and grabbing 10 rebounds.

With Greater Lawrence boys basketball down by two points to Greater Lowell, Cristian Rivera made a steal with 11 seconds left in the game and passed ahead to Javier Franjul who was fouled while coverting the game-tying layup.

Super Cooper powers Rangers

Sophomores Cooper Hammel (26) and Tim Galloway-Burke (22) combined for 48 points and Methuen downed Greater Lawrence 64-52 in a Greater Lawrence Christmas Tourney consolation game.

The lead was 30 when Galloway-Burke, an impressive 6-5 center destined for big things, scored early in the fourth. The Reggies pumped in 25 points in the fourth to cut it to 12. Oscar Reynoso (15) and Javier Franjul hit double figures for Greater Lawrence.

Welch powers Pinkerton over Reggies

Greater Lawrence led 21-14 after a quarter but Cam Welch (22 pts) and Scott Bradley (16 pts) were too much and Pinkerton rolled 65-43 in the first round of the Greater Lawrence Christmas Tourney.

Reggies in OT

Northeast hit two free throws with 2.4 seconds left to force OT, but Greater Lawrence controalled the extra session in a 67-63 win. Anthony Fabian hit a big 3-pointer and Oscar Reynoso iced it with two free throws. Javier Franjul dominated with 19 rebounds and Elliicen Pena, in his varsity debut, led the defense.

Reggie rally

 

Trailing 55-50, the Greater Lawrence boys ended the game with a 13-3 run to defeat Chelsea 63-58. Leading scorer Oscar Reynoso scored eight of his 18 points in the fourth quarter. Javier Franjul dominated underneath with 15 points and 11 rebounds.
