Georgetown baseball was the EMass Division 4 champion last year but it won’t repeat this spring. The Royals ran into a hot Lowell Catholic pitcher, Liam Coughlin, and dropped their Division 4 North semifinal 3-1 yesterday at Fraser Field in Lynn. Junior pitcher Pat Slack started for Georgetown and went 4.0 innings, allowing just one run. Dave Ingraham relieved Slack but struggled with his control. “We made a pitching change to change up some speeds (between the two pitchers),” Georgetown coach Justin Spurr said. “It had been successful all year but for some reason Dave wasn’t adjusting to the mound where his foot was landing.” Ingraham allowed two runs in the fifth. Freshman Mike Goddu accounted for the Royals’ lone run, stroking an RBI single to right field in the second inning. It gave Georgetown a 1-0 lead. “I’m thrilled with the year,” Spurr said. “We had a great group of kids. We had five all-league players. “We had some strikeouts in key situations today,” Spurr added about his offense.

Starter Jeff Moore struck out 10 batters over 3 1/3 innings — accounting for every out he recorded — and allowed one hit, the only hit Georgetown's five pitchers surrended on the day as the No. 3 Royals trounced No. 6 Tech Boston 11-0 in the Division 4 North first round. Angel Sanquintin, David Ingraham, Chris Chiklakis and Alex Bornholdt each pitched a no-hit inning to complete the gem for Georgetown, which travels to No. 2 Lowell Catholic on Monday at 4 p.m.

Georgetown senior Jeff Moore shut down Ipswich on six hits and had an RBI single in a 3-0 victory over Ipswich in the Spofford Tournament consolation game. The Royals finish the regular season at 13-7.

Centerfielder Mike Goddu made a terrific diving catch in the seventh to prevent the tying run from scoring and Georgetown beat Lynnfield 3-2. Dan Manning drove in two of the runs.

Hard-luck loser Patrick Slack doubled in the tying run in the top of the seventh but Masconomet earned the 3-2 win over Georgbetown with an RBI single in the boittom of the seventh. Mike Goddu was taken to the hospital after being hit in the face with the ball. Coach Justin Spurr said, "He'll be OK."

Jeff Moore moved 3-0 on the year with a complete-game four-hitter, lifting Georgetown past Lynnfield, 3-1. Tom Pingree had a hit and drove in a pair for the 5-0 Royals.

Georgetown's Dave Ingraham was perfect for 5.2 innings and settled for a 2-hitter in an 8-0 win over Rockport.
