Methuen's volleyball team had unbeaten and No. 1-seed Peabody on the ropes in the Division 1 North quarterfinals, leading 2-1 in games with a 7-1 lead in Game 4, but the Tanners had two big service runs and held on for a 3-2 win.

Tied up in games 1-1, Methuen crushed Salem 25-9, 25-3 in the final two games to advance to a matchup with No. 1 Peabody at 7 p.m. tomorrow. Alicia Miller was huge for the Rangers (14-7) with 19 kills, 7 blocks and 6 aces.

The Andover volleyball team, which was supposedly rebuilding, won its 19th straight match, 3-0 over Methuen, to close the regular season at 19-1. The Warriors, who got 11 kills from Rachel Schnakenberg, 31 assists and 4 blocks from Azita Bakhytari and 16 service points from both  Mackenzie Kennedy and Sarah Kenyon, have shut out their last 12 opponents and have lost only four individual games all year.  

The Methuen volleyball team, which has played 15 road games, won for the second time in Chelmsford, 3-0. Alicia Miller had a huge game for the Rangers (12-5) with 17 kills, 7 blocks and 16 service points that included 6 aces. improve its record to 

Dylan Parsons had eight services points with five aces and Victoria Nassar notched 24 digs as Central Catholic volleyball beat Methuen 3-0.

Megan Stewart, filling in for injured Kelly Dorandi (knee), came up big with seven digs and led the defense to help Methuen down Billerica 3-1. Megan May was a force off the bench.

Although both teams began the match with identical records, Haverhill swept Methuen in volleyball behind the 19 kills of Abigail Sonuga. Alexis Alestock came up with 15 digs and had a strong passing match for the Hillies (8-2). 

North Andover improved to 70 by downing Methuen 3-1. Rachel Karpinski (12 kills), Catherine Flaherty (strong net play) and Erin Cox (31 assists) powered Knights.

Alicia Miller recorded 16 kills, 10 blocks, 19 service points and seven aces as Methuen won 3-1 over Chelmsford in girls volleyball. 

Ninth-year coach Matt Twomey said it was the first time in his tenure that Methuen has beaten Chelmsford at Chelmsford. 

Alicia Miller scored team-highs in kills (13), blocks (5), service points (19) and aces (11) as Methuen rolled over Everett 25-20, 25-4, 25-10.
